Pistol Crossbows
Pistol crossbows are small crossbows designed to be held in one hand. Usually equipped with a self cocking mechanism, they can be used for hunting small game, home defense, and target practice. The drawweight is between 50lbs and around 100lbs or even more. Bolts with 2 vanes are used to stabilize the flight. The “2 vanes design” are also the reason that magazines works on this type of crossbow.
Magazine Crossbows have partially extendable buttstocks to increase the leverage and require less effort when cocking. They are usually also equipped with optical aiming devices that allow quick, precise firing sequences. Magazined crossbows are also called “rapid fire crossbows”, “repeating crossbows” or “multishot crossbows”
